Sarah Ferguson reveals what Princess Diana would have thought of Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton

Sarah Ferguson has revealed just what her “best friend” Princess Diana would have thought of her two daughter-in-laws.

Why William and Harry's war isn't over

Sarah Ferguson has opened up about what her late sister-in-law Princess Diana would have thought about Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton.

The Duchess of York, 61, claims that the Princess of Wales would have been “so proud” of her sons, Princes William and Harry’s wives, according to a report in The Sun.

Speaking to People magazine, Fergie said: “If she (Diana) were sitting with me right now, I know she would say, ‘I am so proud of both of my boys and the wonderful wives they have chosen.

“Because each has got her own voice.

“And she would be just like me, obsessed with her grandchildren. Because that’s what she loved. Diana adored my girls. She adored the boys. This would be her haven. Her heaven.”

Sarah describes Diana as her “best friend” previously revealing that she is “with her all the time.”

Fergie and Diana knew each other long before they married into the royal family. The pair were distantly related and their parents went to school together.

They helped each other adapt to life in the public eye when they moved into formal roles after their marriages – Diana to Prince Charles, and Fergie to Prince Andrew.

Fergie previously told the Daily Mail: “Diana was my best friend and the funniest person I knew. She had such timing and wit.

“It was a total joy to be with her because we just laughed and enjoyed life so much.”

Fergie spoke about her closeness to Diana in her 1996 autobiography, published just one year before the death of the people’s princess.

She wrote: “She was two years younger than I, and I strove to support and protect her as I would a younger sister — as I still do today, as a best friend.”

It comes as Fergie’s first novel, Her Heart For A Compass, will be available in Australia from August 4, published by HarperCollins Australia and you can read the first Aussie extract in News Corp newspapers on Sunday, August 1.

Meghan created the series, which follows a 12-year-old girl who “goes on an adventure to find inspiration from influential women throughout history”.

“Like many girls her age, our heroine Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to overcome life’s daily challenges,” Meghan said in the statement.

MEGHAN’S BFF SNUBS ROYALS

Meghan Markle’s on again/off again close friend Priyanka Chopra Jonas has been accused of deliberately snubbing Prince William and Kate Middleton in public.

The actor, who is married to singer Nick Jonas, was captured on video adjusting her scarf while the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge entered the royal box at Wimbledon as everyone else around them clapped, according to The Sun.

Royal fans were quick to claim that Chopra Jonas was “ignoring” Kate and Prince William, in the wake of racism-fuelled allegations Meghan had made about the Royal Family.

Speaking to Oprah Winfrey, Meghan said that Kate made her cry over her bridesmaid dresses for her royal wedding, while revealing “conversations” were had with a member of the royal family around the colour of Meghan’s unborn child’s skin.

It is entirely plausible that Chopra simply didn’t see the royal couple entering alongside a number of other attendees pictured not clapping, fans were quick to comment on the moment and claim it was a snub.

One said: “The way Priyanka did not even look in their direction is enough for me.”

Another added: “She totally ignored them. I would do the same if my friend was mistreated”, while a third wrote: “I would ignore them as well.”

The footage was captured as the stars attended the Wimbledon Women’s Final between Australia’s new champ, Ash Barty, and Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic last weekend.

Chopra, who was accompanied by a friend, was spotted a few rows behind Meghan’s sister-in-law Kate and brother-in-law Prince William.

Meghan and Priyanka became friends in 2016 at an ELLE Women in Television dinner before Meghan’s royal ascent, and have supported one another over the years.

Priyanka was a guest at Meghan and Prince Harry’s star-studded wedding, held in May 2018.

When Meghan was chosen as one of Time’s Most Influential People of 2018, Chopra wrote a piece on her friend, writing all about her special qualities.

In the article, Chopra predicted that Meghan “will be a princess for the people” and called her “a relatable young woman with her heart and mind in the right place”.

A source told E!: “Meghan confides in Priyanka about the adjustments she has to make with being a royal”.

When Meghan was previously asked by Oprah Winfrey if she made Kate cry over the dress incident, Meghan said: “The reverse happened. A few days before the wedding she was upset about something, pertaining to … the flower girl dresses, and it made me cry. And it really hurt my feelings.

“There wasn’t a confrontation and I don’t think it’s fair to her to get into the details of that because she apologised, and I have forgiven her. What was hard to get over was being blamed for something that not only I didn’t do, but that happened to me.

“I’m not sharing that piece about Kate in any way to be disparaging to her.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were said to be left deeply saddened after the interview, in which Prince Harry said Wills was “trapped” in the royal family.
