Megan Thee Stallion and Halle Berry were among the celebs who went rogue at the Met Gala and whipped out their phones despite the express instructions of Vogue editor Anna Wintour to keep what happens inside the hallowed event under wraps.
Thee Stallion and her friends fellow recording artist Doechii and basketball icon Angel Reese filmed themselves taste testing all the food on offer.
The trio munched their way through a series of elegant hors d’oeuvres including lobster rolls, caviar and vegan lox.
The cheeky rapper acknowledged she was breaking the rules, giggling at her indiscretion.
“Not supposed to have our phones. But we are doing it!” she said to he camera.
What happens at the Met Gala is supposed to stay at the Met Gala, but Thee Stallion’s video montage also included a peek at the other goings on of the night.
At another point, a trumpet player dressed in royal livery appeared to play the opening strain’s of House of Pain’s Jump Around.
Thee Stallion bumped into Wicked star Cynthia Erivo in the bathroom and said hello to both fashion designer Michael Kors who designed her outfit and singer Ciara.
Singer Questlove also risked Wintour’s wrath by whipping out his phone to take an epic group bathroom selfie video in the mirror.
Later, he filmed a gospel choir singing and panned to the crowd including Aussie Sarah Snook who appeared to be getting right into the performance.
According to American Vogue, bringing phones inside is a big no-no.
“Guests must abide by a no-phone (and, therefore, no social media) policy once they’ve entered the museum,” the magazine noted in a recent article.
While Vogue doesn’t detail the penalty, transgressors risk not being invited back.
AUSSIE STARS SHINE AT GALA
Nicole Kidman stole the show at the 2025 Met Gala, leading a dazzling line-up of Aussie stars on fashion’s biggest night.
This year’s theme is ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, which is bringing in a stark contrast of fashions to the red carpet after last year’s floral-themed ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’ theme.
Kidman unveiled a gorgeous new hairdo and was looking sleek in a midi-length black dress by Balenciaga. She sent the press pack into a frenzy, blowing kisses to the cameras and doing a twirl.
Celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel styled the “Babygirl” star’s locks in a side part with long cascading bangs framing one side of her face.
While the chop dramatically changed Kidman’s looks, it’s likely just temporary as the Oscar-winning actress is known to wear wigs — to varying degrees of believability — in nearly every project she’s done.
Kidman said she told Anna Wintour she wanted something “tailor-made for me” and that the Vogue editor said that was what the theme was all about.
The Aussie actress said she was inspired by all of the “gorgeous, gorgeous dandies” and the women who supported them.
“It’s lovely to just celebrate fashion and couture and tailoring and particularly tonight the tailoring because there’s all those people behind the scenes who do all that work,” she said.
Her Balenciaga look reportedly took 700 hours to create.
Last week, Kidman posted a daring Instagram video, posing on a French balcony in nothing but a black bodysuit and her flowing blonde locks.
The haute couture fundraiser for the museum’s Costume Institute is the biggest spectacle in fashion and has delivered iconic red carpet moments including Rihanna’s elaborate 2015 look by Chinese designer Guo Pei and Cardi B’s regal pregnancy look in 2018.
Aussie model and skincare mogul Miranda Kerr was the epitome of elegance in a unique tuxedo-inspired black gown by Dior.
Meanwhile, Aussie superstar Sarah Snook brought in drama to the blue carpet as she donned a structured look by label AnOnlyChild.
The Succession actress is currently selling out shows on Broadway, playing 26 characters in the one-woman show The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Supermodel Miranda Kerr also made an appearance as she wore a stunning black dress to the event.
Aussie director Baz Luhrmann cut a dash on the red carpet in a striped suit jacket, white vest and colourful tie.
The star cosied up to his wife and long-time creative partner Catherine Martin as they made their way to the steps of the Met.
Billionaire Anthony Pratt made a bold statement as he cut a striking figure.
The cardboard king was resplendent in a brightly coloured suit promoting sustainability, complete with green hat and cane.
