Bianca Censori wanted to back out of her nude stunt on the Grammys red carpet, but husband Kanye West insisted that she go through with it, according to sources.
The outrageous display, in which Melbourne-born Censori walked the red carpet in a see-through mesh dress that exposed her naked form, caused an uproar with experts accusing West of exhibiting signs of controlling behaviour.
An insider told the New York Post that Censori was initially worried about exposing herself at the star-studded Grammys and “would have much rather worn a pretty dress”.
“It’s one thing to be naked for a photo shoot or in an outdoor environment,” the source told the Post.
“But she was naked in public on the Grammy red carpet. This is literally what people have nightmares about, and she did it on purpose. But she wouldn’t have done it without Ye.”
The source claimed Censori “ was really nervous and wanted to back out several times, but he didn’t want her to”.
“When Ye gets something in his head, there’s no talking him out of it,” the source told the Post.
“But make no mistake, this was totally him and not her.”
Dr Louise Mahler, an Australian expert in communication and body language, earlier said Censori’s demeanour during the stunt was truly “disturbing”.
The couple arrived on the red carpet, with Censori wrapped in a long fur coat.
She then turned her back on photographers and removed the coat slowly to reveal her body in the see-through dress.
Exposing her bare bottom, she then turned towards photographers to the sounds of gasps from onlookers, with her naked form fully exposed for all to see.
As cameras flashed amid the frenzy, the rapper told his wife, “You’re making a scene now,” according to a lip reader.
It came as West boasted about his Australian wife, saying Censori had set a “world record” with her see-through Grammys dress.
The controversial rapper praised Censori on Instagram for being “the most googled person on the planet called Earth”.
West also posted an image of the notorious flesh-revealing outfit on his Instagram, which he called “the invisible dress”.
In since deleted posts, the rapper praised Censori for topping the official Google trends list in the US.
He then appeared to take a dig at superstar Beyonce, by highlighting a list of the top celebrities who had been trending since the star-studded Grammys ceremony, which Censori topped with over five million searches.
Beyonce, who took out Album of the Year at the Grammys for her album Cowboy Carter, came bottom of the list with around a million searches.
The couple did not attend the Grammys ceremony and were photographed being escorted out of the Crypto.com Arena by police.Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr told Entertainment Tonight that West was invited to the live broadcast, but he only wanted to walk the red carpet.
