Brad Pitt broke his silence on finalising his divorce from Angelina Jolie after eight years.
During an interview with GQ published on Wednesday, the Fight Club actor was asked if he felt “relief” after he and the actress reached a settlement in their split in December 2024.
“No, I don’t think it was that major of a thing,” he told the outlet.
“Just something coming to fruition. Legally,” the dad of six added.
In December 2024, the Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-stars settled their split, eight years after Jolie initially filed for the dissolution of their marriage in September 2016.
“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” the mum of six’s lawyer, James Simon, told Page Six at the time.
“This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”
Jolie’s legal team filed court documents stating that the Maria star, 49, had waived “any right to receive” spousal support from Pitt, 61, “forever.”
Jolie and Pitt were declared legally single in 2019.
The exes share six kids: Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.
None of the children are on speaking terms with Pitt and several of them have opted to drop his last name.
While it’s unclear when the kids became estranged from the Troy star, Pax reportedly called his estranged dad a “world class a**ehole” in a 2020 Father’s Day post.
“You have no consideration or empathy toward your 4 youngest children who tremble in fear when in your presence,” he reportedly continued, seemingly referencing a 2016 incident when Pitt allegedly became “verbally abusive and physical with his children” aboard a private jet.
