Glen Powell has responded to a photo mix-up of him and fellow Hollywood star Justin Hartley.

Moments before the Golden Globes ceremony kicked off in LA this morning, the Top Gun: Maverick actor hilariously called out The Hollywood Reporter after they mistook Hartley for him on the red carpet.

“Glen Powell has arrived for tonight’s 2024 #GoldenGlobes ceremony,” the caption read on the publication’s official X account.

Powell didn’t take offence and found the humour in the incorrect caption.

“I think this is the perfect time to announce that @justinhartley and I will be starring in the most boring body-swap movie of all time,” he replied as he shared the tweet.

THR has since corrected their Golden Globes gaffe, appearing to delete the image while also posting two follow-up posts of Hartley and his wife Sofia Pernas, including one of the couple sharing a kiss on the red carpet.

Users over on X have wondered for years if the pair are long lost siblings.

“Are Glen Powell and Justin Hartley secret brothers?” one wondered, while another tweeted: “In my head Glen Powell is just Justin Hartley’s character from This Is Us.”

Hartley is best known for his role in This Is Us, playing Kevin Pearson in the NBC drama from 2016 to 2022. He also made headlines in 2019 when he blindsided his then-wife, Netflix star Chrishell Stause, with divorce papers.

In a later episode of her reality TV show Selling Sunset, she claimed that she knew of the filing at the same time the world did, via text message.

Powell is no stranger to drama. While filming his new movie Anyone But You in Australia, he and co-star Sydney Sweeney sparked affair rumours on set due their close friendship. The actor was dating model Gigi Paris at the time but split as rumours intensified.

However, both Powell and Sweeney have remained unbothered by the rumours, which they say are part and parcel of being in the spotlight.

“When all that stuff happened, you know, publicly, it felt disorienting and unfair,” Powell told the Men’s Health in November.

“But what I’m realising is that’s just a part of this gig now.”
