Australian Open 2022: Celebrities spotted at Ash Barty tennis final

The action was happening both on and off the court at the Australian Open with a raft of celebrities, including Hollywood star Russell Crowe, attending the big event.

Hollywood heavyweights came out in force to celebrate Aussie champ Ash Barty for the women’s final of the Australian Open.

Oscar winner Russell Crowe joined actors Katherine Langford, Bella Heathcote and Teresa Palmer court side while four-time Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan also made an appearance.

Ronan, along with British actor partner Jack Lowden, were snapped in the Piper-Heidsieck champagne bar ahead of heading in to Rod Laver Arena for Barty’s match against American Danielle Collins.

She is in the country to shoot Garth Davis flick, Foe, with co-star Paul Mescal, who also attended the tennis.

Mescal, his actor mate Aaron Pierre, Ronan and Lowden arrived several hours before the finals match, having enjoyed a Melbourne pub lunch before making their way to the Australian Open.

Olympic greats Ian Thorpe and Cathy Freeman were on hand while other familiar faces included Eliza Scanlan, Dannii Minogue, Victoria Lee and Karl Stefanovic.

Normal People star Mescal has attended a number of games through the Australian Open tournament.

“I’m just excited about the spectacle and to be at a Grand Slam,” said Mescal, who spent several months shooting Carmen in Sydney last year.
