Film crews spotted at Murray Bridge pool, but project remains unknown

A taste of Hollywood has hit town in an unlikely location, but the exact film being worked on remains shrouded in mystery.

A taste of Hollywood has arrived at Murray Bridge, with film crews taking over the local pool for a top-secret shoot shrouded in secrecy.

Residents snapped a cavalry of trailers outside a cordoned-off Murray Bridge pool on Sunday — but said security was staying mum on the project.

“A security guard told me they have all signed a nondisclosure and couldn’t tell me what movie or series they were shooting,” one local said after staking out the site.

Those within the film industry have remained tight-lipped on what the project could be, but a number of South Australian Film Corporation-backed projects are currently being shot in SA — including the state’s biggest-ever Netflix series Desert King, helmed by Wolf Creek director Greg McLean.

Also in production is eight-episode Stan original series Thou Shalt Not Steal, which follows a young Aboriginal delinquent who escapes from detention in the 1908s and travels across the outback.

It is also understood TV series Top End Bub, a sequel to Miranda Tapsell-led rom-com Top End Wedding, is being filmed in Adelaide after shooting kicked off last month.

While filming wrapped at Murray Bridge on Sunday, it’s unlikely to be the last project seen by the town.

Last week’s state budget featured a cash injection for the state’s television industry, with $7.2 million promised over three years for the extension of the ABC Content Pipeline Fund.

The fund has supported six ABC productions in the state since February 2023, propping up 328 screen industry jobs.

Earlier this year, The Crown star Olivia Colman spent time in the City of Churches filming new project Jimpa, directed by celebrated SA filmmaker Sophie Hyde.

During her Adelaide stint, Colman was spotted dining at popular East Terrace spot Africola and managed to squeeze in a workout at a CBD yoga studio.
