A year after UK superstars Queen played the final show at Adelaide Oval before the pandemic hit, live music is returning to our city stadium.
Weekend of Rock – on February 19, 20 and 21 – will see a line-up of Aussie favourites playing across three nights.
Hometown legends The Angels will play on Friday night, and the Adelaide love continues on Saturday night with The Masters Apprentices and Zep Boys.
Sunday night will see Jon Stevens performing hits from his time with INXS and Noiseworks, beloved singer Daryl Braithwaite and ’80s pop-rock legends Boom Crash Opera. For Vince Contarino, frontman of renowned Led Zeppelin tribute act Zep Boys, Weekend of Rock will be a chance to get back to doing what he loves most.
“We are so excited to be live at last on a big concert stage here in Adelaide, and we can’t wait to get back out there,” Contarino said. It’s a sentiment shared by Angels singer Dave Gleeson, who said the band was “proud to kick off Weekend of Rock”.
“We’ll be bringing the rock back to Adelaide Oval,” he said.
For Stevens, whose career spans more than 30 years, Weekend of Rock will be a “welcome return to live music outdoors”.
“I look forward to performing the Noiseworks and INXS Collection for you all on an amazing Weekend of Rock.”
Tickets start at $79 and go on sale at 9am on Friday through Ticketek.
