Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello has been dumped from his SAFM breakfast radio show with Rebecca Morse and Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann.
As speculated earlier this week, the station announced this morning that Costello has left the program effective immediately, with Morse and Lehmann to return to air next week.
The pair will continue until the end of November before the show goes on summer holidays.
An announcement on a new-look SAFM breakfast show will be made in the next couple of weeks.
A spokesman was coy when asked if Morse and Lehmann would return in 2023 but it’s understood they will be back on the airwaves as part of a revamped show.
Morse and Costello have been on-air together for three years, with Lehmann joining the team in July 2020.
The Bec, Cosi and Lehmo show finished fifth overall in the breakfast timeslot in the most recent radio ratings survey, and third on the FM dial.
Cosi took to his South Aussie with Cosi Facebook page to discuss the move.
“I’ve just been told SAFM has decided to push on in 2023 without the Bec, Cosi and Lehmo breakfast show,” he wrote.
“I’ve loved SAFM so much since I first walked in the doors as a pig farmer from Kadina 23 years ago. They gave me my start in the media and it’s been a wonderful run since then. I wish them well.”
“My biggest disappointment is that in my SAFM contract I get my weight in Fruchocs each year and that will be missed,” he added.
“Thank you, South Australia, for the support you continue to give me. I look forward to being a part of your lives on TV, social media and the radio in 2023.”
SCA head of general management, James Pedersen, said: “Adelaide is a vibrant radio market and Bec, Cosi and Lehmo have helped make the return of SAFM a success, for which I would like to thank them all.”
SCA chief content officer Dave Cameron thanked Costello for his contribution to the station.
“I’d also like to thank Cosi for his last four years with the station, on top of the previous stints over the last two decades that Cosi has had with SAFM, and we wish him well for the future.”
