STEP 1

Go to Advertiser.com.au/fringeadviser

If you’re an Advertiser digital subscriber, you’ve already got access and can start exploring, so skip to the next step. If you’re not a subscriber, the good news is we’re currently offering our cheapest subscription offer – just $1 for the first 28 days. Just click on the Fringe Adviser’s “Subscribe Now” button to sign up.

STEP 2

Use the Date filter to select the day (or days) when you want to go out. Or if you’re looking for a specific show, just type the name into the search box.

STEP 3

Let’s filter the results. Choose your favourite Category, like comedy or theatre or magic. You can select more than one option at a time, and you can narrow down the field further by selecting Classification (to find shows that are suitable for all ages or those only for adults); Rating (this sorts the shows we’ve reviewed by our reviewers’ rating out of 5 stars); and Venue. And once the Fringe starts, if you want to read all our reviews, hit Clear to cancel all your other selections, then go to Reviews and select All Reviews – this shows you all the shows we’ve reviewed so far. Hit Review to bring up our verdict.

STEP 4

Read all about your short-listed shows and find out when and where they are on. You can save shows you’re interested in seeing to a Favourites list, then view your Favourites at a later date via the Category dropdown. Once you’ve decided on a show, click More Info/Buy Tickets to be taken straight to the Fringe’s ticketing site.

STEP 5

Let’s talk reviews! This is one of the Fringe Adviser’s most useful features – an independent verdict that helps you work out if a show is worth seeing.

Throughout the Fringe our team of entertainment experts will review hundreds of shows, and as soon as each one is published a Review button will appear on that show’s listing – just click or tap to read our verdict. The library of reviews will increase rapidly in the first week, and you can sort out the top-tier shows by choosing 4 stars or higher in the Reviews menu.

Plus, if we’ve interviewed an artist or written a previous story, you’re able to read that too via a Preview button.

After you’ve seen a show, you can share your opinion by rating it from one to five stars. As the Fringe builds you’ll be able to see what the crowd rates as the standout shows.
