Adelaide Fringe 2022: Everything you need to know about vaccination rules for venues and tickets

With this year’s Fringe fast approaching, some venues need patrons to be double jabbed – but which ones are they? We answer your most pressing Fringe questions here.

Ticket sales for the Adelaide Fringe have surpassed 50,000, as its event director says varying vaccine requirements for venues will not turn patrons away.

Fringe Director Heather Croall said different venues have varying rules on vaccine requirements, and shunned claims that patrons could be turned away due to not having a blanket authority.

“I think the high percentages of vaccinations is great to see across the state and I think people are used to it,” she said.

Ms Croall said detailed venue entry information can be easily accessed on the Fringe’s website, where patrons can filter venues that require vaccination or do not.

While over 51,000 ticket sales were “great”, Ms Croall told that anecdotally, audiences leave purchases to the last minute.

“We‘ve seen audience confidence picking up,” she said.

“For artists it‘s really important that people book early and let artists know they’re coming.”

Ticket sales were “on par” with early February last year, Ms Croall said, with a higher dollar value this year.

Ms Croall said pre-planning was encouraged, as venues will operate at 75 per cent capacity, with face masks to be compulsory indoors.

“If we do get to 100 per cent wearing masks, that would be amazing,” Ms Croall said.

“At this point, we‘re happy with 75 per cent, but obviously the artists only earn the money that they earn on box office in the Adelaide Fringe, they’re not getting paid fees to perform.”

Ms Croall said “quite a few” venues will only allow fully vaccinated patrons, and a full list of venues and shows with jab requirements can be filtered on the Fringe’s website.

The Fringe’s largest and most popular venues, the Garden of Unearthly Delights and Gluttony, require adults to be fully vaccinated. Gluttony has also specified children over 12 must be fully vaccinated. Adults at Adelaide Festival and WOMADelaide must also be fully vaccinated.

The 2022 Adelaide Fringe guide is available from more than 150 collection points including Foodland supermarkets, BankSA branches, registered Fringe venues and the festival’s box office in Rundle Mall.

Tickets can be purchased on the Adelaide Fringe’s website, or at the box office in Rundle Mall in the CBD.
