The spread of new restaurants in this year’s delicious100 shows how good eating is in South Australia right now, says Matt Preston.
Australia’s favourite food critic will be back in town for dinner with a lucky reader of The Advertiser and delicious. South Australia, as the prize of the inaugural People’s Choice competition.
Readers can vote for which restaurants they think should be higher, or lower on the delicious100 list, which ranks SA’s best restaurants from 1 to 100.
It’s a chance to win an exclusive dinner date for yourself and a friend with Preston at one of SA’s top tables.
Twenty new restaurants have made it into this year’s delicious100, released on Sunday.
“Having read the list, it shows how strong Adelaide is to have 20 of 100 new places,” Preston says.
“In the past three or four years, there’s been an explosion of approachable, delicious places. Obviously you’ve got somewhere like Africola, but also Sunny’s, Pizzateca, Shobosho, Nido … that’s the way we want to eat.
“We don’t want fuss (or) stuffy waiters who look down their nose on how we say Viognier.”
South Australia’s delicious100 includes restaurants from the city and suburbs, as well as regions such as Barossa Valley, Fleurieu Peninsula and Adelaide Hills.
The guide lets you sort through the best restaurants by price, region, cuisine or vibe.
With the guide’s in-built filters you can easily find the best spot to dine with your kids, partner, mates or parents. Look up the best Italian joint in the city or top date night restaurant near the beach, or find the best spots for vegans and vegetarians.

“I can confidently say that I have no worries that the restaurant that comes out on top will be anything else than an example of why Adelaide is a delicious place to eat,” Preston says.
