Taylors wines will mark its 50th birthday in style, by channelling a little Austin Powers and hippie culture for its Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend celebrations on Saturday and Sunday.
Like many people coming to this milestone, Taylors will indulge in a little nostalgia, bringing back the music of the era and encouraging visitors to come suitably attired.
“There’s definitely a bit of fun around the ’60s,” says Cherry Stowman, senior brand ambassador at Taylors.
“Even if you were only born then, so you didn’t experience it, when you turn 50 it’s a good opportunity for a bit of fun. The music was so good, the fashion was a heap of fun and everyone was going a bit wild and pushing the boundaries.”
During the day, the Taylors cellar door will host a “flour power” party, with pizzas and music (including performances from The 60 Four on Sunday).
On Saturday night, attention will shift to the Auburn Institute for a more elegant celebration dinner by ASH Catering and dancing on an original floor.
Taylors is also marking the year with a special premium release of 2014 cabernet sauvignon, The Legacy, which recognises the family company’s longstanding interest in the variety and its role in them settling in Clare.
