Private functions with standing up drinking or dancing may soon be again allowed, under the latest easing of Covid-19 restrictions that may be revealed on Thursday.

The state government’s Covid Ready Committee will debate the latest tranche of relaxed bans out of the Omicron crisis as authorities monitor a slight rise in cases.

Premier Steven Marshall, who chairs the CRC, may then announce new details and timings of legal directions, which Police Commissioner Grant Stevens will authorise.

Allowing private functions is among a raft of changes under review along with boosting home gathering caps from 10 people.

Private functions, such as weddings, parties and other events, were last year allowed for 150 people to stand while drinking. Up to 50 guests could also dance.

Current functions rules are dictated by hospitality rules of 50 per cent density but seated eating and drinking.

Private parties could be opening up again.

New rules could be more “flexible”, officials say, but allowing any dancing and standing up drinking is still subject of strong debate.

Outdoor rules may also be relaxed.

Gym caps, which allow one person every 7 sqm, could also be lifted with quarter density being investigated.

New work from home orders for public servants is also under review, from a current 25 per cent.

Officials say decisions are a “balancing act” while Mr Marshall has repeatedly stated that all restrictions cannot be simultaneously lifted but will be staggered every fortnight.

Another high-level CRC meeting was held on Wednesday afternoon but no final decisions made as authorities consider the latest modelling and health advice.

Officials are also wanting to monitor the return of all school classes next week before making any major decisions to dramatically ease restrictions.

SA Health on Wednesday revealed a Covid infectious woman in her 60s and a man in his 90s had died.

It also reported 1671 cases in the past day, compared to 1,296 over the previous 24 hours.

There are 210 patients in hospital, an increase of six in 24 hours while three more people were admitted to intensive.

Of the 18 ICU patients, three are on ventilators in induced comas.

Adelaide University modelling has stated no second wave will occur through staged easing of restrictions.
