It was an unusual performance for “international superstar, sex symbol and Berlin boy wonder” Hans, but it’s a show he’ll never forget.
Hans, aka Sunday Mail columnist Matt Gilbertson, wowed more than 300 quarantined guests from their balconies at the Pullman Hotel in Hindmarsh Sq, marking the end of their two-week isolation.

The guests were required to stay in the hotel after arriving in Adelaide from India to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Hans – who made it to the finale of America’s Got Talent: The Champions in February – said it was the first time he had seen his band in seven weeks, and the show was put together with no rehearsals.
“It was really, really fun and a bit emotional,” Hans said.
“I was really wondering how it was going to go because the whole thing about a live show is the audience is right in front of you … but (the guests) were really loud and getting into it with their glow sticks and torches.
“It was great fun … there were lots of kids, so I got a bit of an education.”
More than 50,000 people tuned into Hans’ livestream of the show on Facebook.
Hans’ performance was also well-received by Premier Steven Marshall and chief public health officer Nicola Spurrier, who was seen showing off some dance moves.
“The Premier made this speech at the end and then Nicola did too and I was up there trying to keep it together,” Hans said.
“But the whole show was really bittersweet because we do not know when we are going to do another show again and we don’t know what it will look like.”
Prof Spurrier, videoed having a dance at the night, said Hans provided a “great morale boost”.
“We’ve all been affected by the coronavirus outbreak, but the families in quarantine have been away for their homes and loved ones for two weeks, which must be extremely difficult,” Prof Spurrier said.
“A big thank you to the Pullman Adelaide for organising the concert. I had a fantastic time and it was wonderful to see everyone having fun, even with social distancing.”
