Adelaide Fringe 2020 review: Lawrence Mooney: Beauty
He’s rough, crude and rude, telling us we’re beautiful on the inside, yet he’s not afraid to reveal his own soft underbelly, his vulnerabilities, negative self-talk and fears of inadequacy.

Brace yourself for the raw and dirty beauty of Mooney. The man is a machine, banging it out year after year and this is his ninth Adelaide Fringe.
With an ego the size of a planet (Uranus of course), he certainly knows what he’s doing and thoroughly enjoys it, sometimes more than we do, as he wipes tears of laughter from his own eyes.
He’s rough, crude and rude, calling “bring back the bush”, even if it makes him gag. Telling us we’re beautiful on the inside.
Yet he’s not afraid to reveal his own soft underbelly, his vulnerabilities, negative self-talk and fears of inadequacy.
Loved the angry rant about celebrity chefs, even if Jamie Oliver resembled the opal miner on Hindley Street. Got a little lost in Sydney though.
Giving new meaning to the word, Beauty is all kinds of wrong: Something to enjoy together that leaves you a little bit sore, yet begging for more.
