Birmingham’s Cleopatra Higgins is a veritable powerhouse.
Her presentation of Tina Turner’s often troubled life – from escaping abusive former husband Ike Turner to repeatedly reaching the top of the musical charts – is flawless.
The hour-long musical biopic is an extended version of a show which won two top awards at the highly-regarded Edinburgh Fringe.
Visiting Australia for the first-time, Higgins is supported by a tight-knit backing band mostly consisting of fellow Brits.
Higgins punctuates her narration with various popular hits – Proud Mary, Simply the Best, What’s Love Got To Do With It, River Deep, We Don’t Need Another Hero, Addicted to Love.
This is much more than a music tribute show.
It is a wonderful celebration of an extraordinary performer.
Don’t miss it.
