Fullarton’s Arkaba Hotel undergoes $10m facelift

The iconic Arkaba Hotel is undergoing a multimillion-dollar revamp – and patrons can take part by sharing their best memories from the past 60 years. See the pictures.

One of Adelaide’s biggest and most iconic hotels is in the throes of a multimillion-dollar revamp from its top to its bottom – its first major overhaul in 60 years.

The Arkaba Hotel in Fullarton is undergoing a $10m revamp and will soon be sporting a brand new contemporary feel across the historic and popular venue.

The venue, which opened in 1964 and is now owned by Hurley Hotel Group, hosts around 300 gigs a years, and has long been a go-to destination for entertainment, accommodation and functions.

The Arkaba’s fresh new look will boast refurbished designs inside their Top of the Ark, bistro, function rooms, lounge, hotel reception and kitchen.

Patrons will also be able to enjoy a brand new seating layout inside the Sporty’s Bar + Arena, which will soon be fitted with more furniture.

Hurley Hotel Group owner Jenny Hurley said the new revamp will “bring new life to the Hotel while also maintaining its unique architectural integrity and structures that are simply irreplaceable.”

“We’re so excited to be revitalising the Ark,” Ms Hurley said.

“There’s no doubt the Arkaba has been a pretty special place for many South Australian’s over the years.”

Now the hotel owners want the public to be a part of the historic revamp by sharing their memories from its 60-years in business at Fullarton.

“Whether it was an unforgettable gig or function that you attended, a friend or partner you met at the venue, or simply just highlights from your glory days at the beloved Ark, we want to hear from you,” Ms Hurley said.

Frequent or once-off patrons can either send their photos or videos to The Arkaba’s Facebook or Instagram or drop off printed items to the hotel reception.

“It is fun looking back at old photos and reflecting on highlights from the past, making this the perfect excuse to dig deep and have a laugh in the process,” Ms Hurley said.
