Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Tuesday, April 1. The ASX 200 index closed 1 per cent higher to 7925.20 points on a sea of green after the Reserve Bank's decision to keep rates on hold at 4.10 per cent.

On Wall Street, major indexes marked their worst quarter since 2022 after the S&P 500 and Dow Jones indexes closed 0.6 per cent and 1 per cent higher, respectively, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq index closed 0.1 per cent lower.

Cryptocurrency giant bitcoin is sitting above $US83,000 at 5pm AEDT.

The Aussie dollar was trading around US62.54c.
