ASX 200 live: Best day since 2020; Wall Street hit records over Trump's 90-day tariff pause
Technology and mining stocks lead surge on local bourse. US futures point down after Wall Street's historic session as Chinese leaders meet to respond to Trump's 125 per cent hit.
Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Thursday, April 10. The ASX 200 index closed 4.5 per cent higher to 7709.60 points.
On Wall Street, it was Nasdaq's best day in 24 years with a 12 per cent gain, the S&P 500's 9.5 per cent gain was its biggest since 2008 and Dow Jones recorded its best-ever jump, up 7.9 per cent or 2963 points.
Cryptocurrency giant bitcoin was trading above $US82,000 at 5pm AEST.
The Aussie dollar was also in recovery mode, near US61.92c.
