YOU need supported retirement accommodation but don’t have the money for a deposit — what happens next?

It’s a question many Australians have to face as they grow older, and we want to help you work out what your options are.

Our monthly feature question for January was from Eddie who asked:

If a parent is currently in supported retirement living but needs to move into around the clock nursing home care, how can they source the deposit required for the nursing home? We have been told the deposit for the initial retirement village will not be released until the property is resold to a new resident — which could take months.

ACH Group Teresa and Katrina were at The Advertiser office on Tuesday to answer all your queries in our free monthly aged care advice blog, Aged Care Answers.

Scroll down to see how our feature question, and many other aged care queries were answered in the January edition of the liveblog.

We’ll be back on February 13 for the next edition of Aged Care Answers. You can visit all our previous blogs here.

It’s not too late to ask your question for next month! You can do so by commenting below or by emailing us at tiser@theadvertiser.com.au.
