Now that the farm is set up and the sheep are where we want, it’s getting easier but it has been a whirlwind to get it where we want it.It’s all down to hard work.

Growing up on a Merino stud, Paula Riches has always loved sheep and wool. But these days, the Irrewillipe woman has more than one flock to think about.

Paula and husband Chris run first-cross ewes for prime lambs and wool, and an ag business and also recently moved into beef cattle. She's hands-on in all respects.

She is also the driving force behind their involvement in accreditation programs, which ensure consumers know how the family produces food and fibre.

The sheep and wool industries are well represented among nominees in The Weekly Times Shine Awards this year.

The awards put a spotlight on regional and rural women across Australia.
