Scaled back Sydney Royal to return
To be staged next year, the show will be cut back with several sections to be dropped.
BROCK Gilmour, chief executive officer of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, says the Sydney Royal Easter Show will be held from April 1 to 12, next year.
In order to proceed with the 2021 Sydney Royal Horse Show section, the RAS Horse Committee has had to cancel several sections of the show.
Breed sections, including Buckskin, Palomino, Pinto and Yearling classes in all breeds have been deleted, plus Team Penning, Ranch Sorting, Equestrian Vaulting, Horseball, Heavy Horse Obstacle Classes, the Small Arena Campdraft for juniors and seniors, Shetland Light Harness, Police Classes and Musical Rides.
The Federation Challenge Rodeo Series will be held over six days but there will not be the popular Professional Bull Riding Championship.
The World Championship Campdraft will also be held from April 7 to 12. “We understand these changes will come as a disappointment for many, especially those that may have been preparing for the above events, however, this difficult decision was required to ensure the success of the Show next year.” Mr Gilmour said in a statement.
He said while there was still work to be done, “we are delighted to say the event is on track and we will continue to communicate with competitors as further details are available’’.
Entries for the Sydney Royal Horse Competition Breeds, Hacks, Harness, Riding and Showjumping opened on December 3.
On the other side of the world the FEI has notified that all three equestrian disciplines, Jumping, Dressage and Eventing have been formally confirmed for the Paris 2024 Olympic program.
