From young guns to ex-AFL stars and loyal club heroes — here’s our list of the top 45 footballers so far this season.

Charlie Burrows (Waaia)

Burrows could be on track to beat his 63-goal effort in 2019 as he currently has 45 majors from 10 matches.

Tom Buzza (Katamatite)

Buzza has been in the best on all but two occasions and there is every reason to suggest he could be leading the club’s best and fairest count.

Mitch Bye (Tocumwal)

Bye has been in sensational form throughout the season in an otherwise difficult year for his side having been named in the best on 10 occasions.

Jack Caia (Katandra)

There’s every possibility this man is currently leading his side’s best and fairest count with five best on ground honours to his name.

Jayden Clarke (Waaia)

After returning to the club from the Goulburn Valley league, Clarke hasn’t missed a beat in his eight games with a series of impressive displays.

Liam Connell (Rennie)

Connell started the season like a house on fire with six performances which saw him named in the best and has since started to re-find his form.

Mitchell Conlan (Jerilderie)

After making the move to Jerilderie, Conlan has excelled at the level with 38 goals from 10 games.

Tyler Dunn (Katunga)

Dunn is a player who has shown the ability to swing the game in his side’s favour with moments of brilliance. He had a fantastic run where he was named in the best for seven straight weeks.

Jake Ellery (Mathoura)

A leader for the Timbercutters, Ellery has been named in the best every week since his first two games of 2021.

Angus Ford (Tungamah)

As reliable as they come in the competition. Ford doesn’t always win the major plaudits but plays a key role every week.

Patrick Frappell (Katandra)

Frappell has been one of the Cats’ most consistent players after they returned to the competition having been named in the best eight times.

James Gilligan (Deniliquin Rovers)

The enforced break came at the wrong time for Gilligan who had produced three best on ground displays in a row.

Will Gorman (Berrigan)

Getting Gorman back to the club has been a massive tick for the Saints who will still fancy their premiership chances. He has kicked 36 goals from 13 games.

Fraser Haintz (Berrigan)

Haintz started the season in fantastic form and hasn’t dropped off with a number of impressive performances.

Edward Hayne (Katunga)

Hayne would have been disappointed to see play stop earlier this month after a run of form capped off by a best on ground display.

Blair Henery (Jerilderie)

Henery has been named in the best on five occasions this season as the Demons chase down the top teams.

Marcus Hill (Yarroweyah)

Hill has been equally as impressive for the Hoppers as he was in his first season being named in the best on six occasions.

Ashley Holland (Waaia)

Holland has been superb this season having been named in the best on eight occasions from 10 games.

Nicholas Irvine (Tungamah)

In what has been an impressive season to date, Irvine’s best spell came when he earned best afield honours three weeks in a row.

Izaac Johnson (Mathoura)

Johnson has been a consistent source of goals for his side including a bag of 12 against Blighty.

Andrew Jones (Yarroweyah)

Jones sits second in his side’s goalkicking charts with 23. But it’s his match winning ability which has caught the eye.

Blake Jorgensen (Picola United)

He has been named in the best nine times this season and remains one of his side’s most important players.

Braydon Kearns (Katunga)

Kearns is the Swans leading goalkicker so far this season with a respectable 28 majors from 12 games.

Nick Lawless (Tungamah)

Lawless has been in inspired form throughout the season with 21 goals from nine games so far.

Tim Looby (Strathmerton)

The former Goulburn Valley League forward has been a sensation since joining the club booting 50 goals from 10 games. His best effort was 11 majors against Blighty.

Grant Martin (Berrigan)

Martin can always be relied on to get the job done for his side and has been rewarded with five appearances in the best.

Andrew May (Deniliquin Rovers)

May has rarely let his teammates down throughout the season having been named in the best on 10 occasions.

Tyson McKenzie (Tungamah)

The Bears leading goalkicker in their return to the competition, McKenzie has been held goalless just once.

Marcus McMillian (Strathmerton)

Five senior games into his time with the Bulldogs and McMillan has already shown all his talent with 30 goals. He crossed from the Ovens and Murray League in May.

Samuel Poole (Katamatite)

Poole is making up for lost time in 2021 having been limited to seven games two years ago. He has been named best afield four times this season.

Samuel Richardson (Waaia)

Richardson is averaging more than two goals a game this season after a series of impressive displays including seven majors against Katandra.

Darcy Robinson (Mathoura)

The Timbercutters coach rarely puts a foot wrong for his side and his hardness at the contest has been impressive inside 50.

Kade Rowe (Tocumwal)

Five best on ground displays have been the cherry on top for Rowe who hasn’t been left out of the best since round one.

Tom Scott (Yarroweyah)

Scott has been a consistent player for Yarroweyah throughout the season having been named in the best six times.

Simon Russell (Strathmerton)

Russell has been as consistent as anyone for the Bulldogs as they sit one game clear at the top of the ladder.

Luke Sanderson (Strathmerton)

Sanderson was one of the most in-form players of the competition before play was stopped having been named in the best in his side’s last five matches.

Tyson Sidebottom (Strathmerton)

The brother of Collingwood star Steele has made a seamless transition from the Kyabram District League showcasing his talent in another country competition.

Sam Singleton (Blighty)

Singleton has been a shining light for his side in an extremely difficult season where they have suffered several heavy losses.

Sam Sleigh (Jerilderie)

Sleigh has been one of the Demons best performers throughout the season including best afield honours in his last game.

Chase Strawhorn (Rennie)

Despite his side winning just one game, Strawhorn has still kicked 58 goals to lead all comers this season.

Ashley Thompson (Waaia)

Thompson finished second in the league’s best and fairest in 2019 and continues to be an important player for the Bombers.

Adam Way (Berrigan)

Way’s form throughout the middle part of the season has been as good as anyone’s from across the competition.

John Woodcock (Katamatite)

The reigning league best and fairest winner has been sensational again this season. Woodcock has been named in the best nine times.

Sam Woodward (Picola United)

Since crossing from the Kyabram District League, Woodward has established himself as one of United’s must watch players.

Sam Wright (Katamatite)

The ex-North Melbourne utility has shown off his talents with 28 goals from six games. He will play a big role in the Tigers’ premiership ambitions.
