North Central Football League club Charlton votes down Wycheproof-Narraport merger
The results of the votes on a merger of Charlton and Wycheproof-Narraport have been confirmed.
Wycheproof-Narraport will continue to explore its options after a proposed merger with a fellow North Central club failed to garner the support required to proceed.
While “about 82 per cent” of Wycheproof-Narraport members voted in favour, secretary Rory White confirmed, the club it was proposing to merge with, Charlton, knocked back the proposal.
Charlton vice-president Jake Lanyon confirmed the result of its vote fell short of the required 75 per cent majority required. He declined to comment further on the result.
White said the club would “always keep our options open”.
“I would like to think that our conversations with Charlton will continue, whether it’s something we do now or something in the future, but we will certainly keep our opportunities open,” he said.
“We haven’t got anyone else we are speaking to at the minute, we were focusing on Charlton, but at the minute, for the foreseeable future it will be Wycheproof-Narraport as it has been for the past 57 years.”
