MAFFRA Football Club has marked the end of an era with the departure the Burgiel brothers, Hayden and Adrian.

Hayden, who coached the Eagles for five of the past eight seasons and to the 2006 and 2007 flags, signed as playing coach at Sale City in the North Gippsland league just weeks after Adrian took on the coaching role at Moe.

Hayden is a two-time Gippsland league best and fairest winner and played in seven flags at the Eagles.

Maffra reappointed Wayne Butcher, after he led the Eagles to premierships in 2002, 2003 and 2004. His son, John, plays for Port Adelaide.
