Barker College has sent a shockwave through the Basketball Australia Schools Championships, while a tournament favourite is struggling for wins. Watch the day two REPLAYS.

Barker College pulled off the upset of the pool stages on Tuesday night, overturning a seven-point final quarter deficit to beat out Victorian juggernaut Rowville Secondary College.

The Barker win, which was spearheaded by Jessie-May Hall (26 points, eight rebounds, six assists) and Lucy Mead (26 points, 10 rebounds) capped off a brilliant second day on court one.

Rowville weren’t without opportunity to seal the match, with a last minute lay-up from Manuela Puoch, who had a team-high 23 points, mercilessly bouncing off the rim.

Barker’s 78-77 win means they will enter the women’s championship quarter-finals undefeated.

Barker College weren’t the only big winners on court one on Tuesday with Willetton Senior High managing to hold on for a gripping two-point win over John Paul College in the Championship women division while South Australia’s Trinity College scored a win over Brisbane Boys College.

Trinity College big man Deng Manyang continued his dominant start to the schools championships, with 25 points and 12 rebounds in an emphatic double-double.

The Southport School showed it is still feeling the loss of star guard Indy Cotton, who was ruled out of the tournament with a high ankle sprain suffered in the school’s final training run.

The reigning champions fell to a second-straight loss, going down 79-67 to Willetton Senior High.

An impressive John Paul College side will put their title credentials to the test on day two of the Basketball Australia Schools Championships.

Fresh off a triple-figure performance on Monday, the Olivia Olechnowicz-led side will take on the women from the west, Willetton State High, in a big clash on court one.

It will be the first of two big showdowns on court one for Willetton, who will back up in the final match of a six-match card against Caulfield Grammar.

It is a tough ask for the Willetton side who are aiming to correct course after an opening day loss to Championship underdogs Brisbane State High.

Barker College will also aim to prove themselves, when Jessie-May Hall and her teammates clash with reigning champions Rowville on day

Brisbane Boys College will be back in action on court one when they take on South Australian contenders Trinity College.

In the other Championship boys clash reigning champions The Southport School will take on Willetton Senior High.
