A second-half surge proved the winner for the Nightcliff women as they broke free in their tight contest against the Tiwi Bombers.
Last time these sides met at Gardens Oval it was a goal after the siren that sent the Tigers home victorious after trailing all day.
They didn’t have to wait quite as long to hit the front, but it was a contest all the way through until they came away the 8.4 (52) to 5.7 (37) winners.
Tiwi had early momentum with the likes of Hayley Finning and Maria Rioli playing their roles, but some inaccuracies meant they couldn’t take advantage.
And Nightcliff, as they did back in Round 5, worked their way on top through the contest particularly in the second half where they finally tore free from equal standings on goal.
Mickayla Ward and Lucy Northcott scored three goals apiece to power Nightcliff ahead, while Cassie McWilliam didn’t score but offered herself well in the forward line.

It’s second against fourth in one of the biggest NTFL women’s games of the season so far.
And judging by the last time they met on November 2 when Nightcliff got the nod by a mere five points, there’s plenty to look forward to.

The Bombers led for most of that Round five encounter, but a goal after the siren from Tshinta Kendall got Nightcliff over the line.
It was a fitting match for two sides looking likely to remain in the top four for the remainder of the season.
Tiwi are fresh off a resounding defeat of Palmerston in their one and only home game of the season, and it’s this confidence they will want to take into the encounter.
Jelena Tipungwuti scored three goals while Kimberly Cunningham and Maria Rioli were both lively in front of the sticks, too.
Nightcliff have conceded less than 10 points in three of their past four matches. Their only defeat in that time came to women’s powerhouse PINT.
Gabrielle Deller has been a consistent force each week, while there’s plenty of scoring options to look out for.
