Reigning premier Echuca sent a strong statement to the rest of the Goulburn Valley league with a 74-point win against Rochester on Saturday.

Rochester is the only team to beat Echuca this season, but the result was put beyond doubt when the Murray Bombers led by 50 points at three quarter time.

Captain Kane Morris kicked three goals for Echuca, which was also well served by Ben and Sam Reid, Jack McHale and Sam Willoughby.

Echuca has the bye on Saturday before playing Shepparton Swans in the final round.

Rochester, which will finish third, plays Mooroopna on Saturday before rounding out the home and away matches against Shepparton United.

Former North Melbourne player Shaun Atley played his first game at senior level for Rochester this season against Echuca and was named in the club’s best players.
