Event organiser duo create new society

Gaining qualifications for Royal shows and Horse of the Year events, is now just a matter of being On The Bit.

EXPERIENCED and well-known event organisers, Sue Thompson and Fiona Mardling have joined forces to create the On The Bit Show Society to provide a showing platform for horses and riders who need somewhere to compete and gain qualifications for Royal shows and Horse of the Year.

The first Victorian event was recently held at Boneo Park and was well supported, despite riders experiencing four seasons in one day as they competed across five rings.

David Quayle and Margot Haynes made the long trek from South Australia to judge the feature classes including the Off The Track classes and awarded the OTT Champion Show Horse to Rolex II ridden by Kaitlin Labahn-Meyland and the OTT Champion Show Hunter to Parishon ridden by Riley Shannon-Winzer.

In the Homes and Acreage Warmblood Feature Classes the Champion Warmblood Show Horse was awarded to Santa Fe MD ridden this time by usual groom Katrina Pizzi.

Champion Warmblood Show Hunter went to Ali Berwick riding Antoinette CSH.

The Gorst Rural Supplies Champion Saddle Pony not exceeding 14.2hh was awarded to Lauren Ferraro riding Highgrove In Your Dreams.

Champion Riding Horse over 14.2hh not exceeding 15.2hh went to Salisbury Masterpiece ridden by Claudia McCormick.

Competitors also had four open rings to compete in with the Champion hacks going to Alexa Ward riding EBL Empower, Rolex II and Kaitlin Labahn-Meyland, Briony Payne and Sante Fe MD and Natalie McKay riding St. Andrews.

Champion Galloways were won by Keely Thomas riding Warranwood NASA, Ella Doherty and Braeliegh Endeavour and Lauren Ferraro and Highgrove In Your Dreams.

Champion show ponies were Sally Morphy and Chippenham Aquilon, Charlotte Oberon and Astral Royal Serenade and Chanel Hunter and Emeyella Heavens Soprano.

The leading rein class was won by Emma Richardson’s Hibrie Summer Love ridden by Isabel Morphy.
