The impact of Jackson Trengove in his first season at Barooga can’t be understated and it has seen him land the senior coaching role in 2022.

From the moment the former Port Adelaide and Western Bulldog walked into the club, those around the Hawks’ nest have been impressed with everything he has done.

On the field, Trengove has booted 17 goals from 10 games, being named in the best on five occasions.

Club president Marcus Fry said he was excited to hand the reins to the 186-game AFL veteran.

“He’s been a real leader even in his current role as assistant coach,” he said.

“Jackson made it clear to us he wanted to get into coaching and we’re really pleased we can help him take those steps.

“He and his family have fit in really well into the club and town. It’s been a pleasure to have them.”

Fry said he hoped Trengove’s profile would help the club attract some more top quality talent next season.

“I think you’d be mad if you didn’t want to come have a kick under Jackson,” he said.

“With his experience and knowledge, there is a lot you’d be able to learn.”

The Hawks have also announced the reappointment of Matt Healey as A-grade netball coach for next season.

“Matt has been fantastic,” Fry said.

“He’s managed to bring some local girls to our club and all of our teams are improving every week.

“These appointments mean we can already start planning for next year which is really pleasing.”

Barooga will play Mulwala next weekend if play is able to resume in the Murray League.
