GVFL grand final results: Shepparton breaks Kyabram’s winning streak
KYABRAM'S 62-match winning streak came to a crashing halt today with a two-point loss in the Goulburn Valley League grand final.
KYABRAM'S 62-match winning streak came to a crashing halt today with a two-point loss in the Goulburn Valley League grand final.
The Bombers had not lost a match since the 2015 grand final, when they went down to Benalla, but after winning every game since, including two premierships, their hopes of a three-peat were dashed.
One year after Kyabram denied Shepparton Bears a premiership, it was the Bears' turn to celebrate, winning their first premiership since 2000 9.9 (63) to 8.13 (61).
Shepparton club president Will Phillips said he was "a little bit shell-shocked" after the game
"I'm extremely proud of all the hard work the committee, coaching group and the players have put in," he said.
"We're just very happy, I am very happy for the players and coaches, they put in a great effort.
"I keep having to look at the scoreboard to check we won."
