Brendan Fevola returns to the field to boot 10 after being knocked out

AFTER being knocked out in Sunday’s Ovens and Murray league semi-final against Wodonga Raiders, Brendan Fevola rose like Lazarus.
A bout of concussion could not deny the charismatic showman, as he bagged 10 goals and inspired Yarrawonga to a four-goal win.
The Pigeons’ star full forward and co-coach had taken his goal tally to six early in the second quarter, but his day looked set to end soon after he was escorted from the field following a heavy collision while leading for a mark.
“What can you say about him? He’s a remarkable man,” Yarrawonga president Andrew Mott said.
“He got knocked out. We were a bit worried about him and called the ambulance.
“He just said he was right to go back on, and there was no way of stopping him.”
Fevola returned to the field after half-time and booted another four majors in the last quarter to almost single-handedly drag his team home.
The youthful exuberance of Jess Koopman, Marcus Hargreaves and Jordan Daniel was also invaluable as the Pigeons ran over the top of the Raiders with a nine-goal-to-one last term to book a preliminary final meeting with Lavington.
Mott said Fevola’s fifth goal, struck out of midair from a boundary throw in, showed the former Coleman medallist was “on”.
Fevola has announced this will be his final season for the Pigeons after four successive grand finals with the club. Mott said the Pigeons had been “privileged” to land the swashbuckling goal kicker, but understood his decision to part ways in order to be closer to his family.
