Ballarat names 32-man squad for clash against Hampden

Carlton legend Anthony Koutoufides will lead the Ballarat interleague team into battle against Hampden. He’s just named his squad of players.

Ballarat has named a 32-man under-23 squad as it looks for back-to-back wins against Hampden in interleague competition.

The team, which will be coached by former Carlton player Anthony Koutoufides, features at least one player from each of the 11 teams in the league.

Powerhouse Sunbury has been rewarded for its strong start to the season with six players selected.

Last year’s grand finalists, North Ballarat and Darley, each have three players selected including last year’s best player in the grand final, Riley Polkinghorne.

He is joined by VFL player Kyle Borg with current Bendigo Pioneer Taj Bond also picked.

The squad will train three times before the clash with the team to be trimmed to 24, including two emergencies, before the match.

Ballarat will be looking to win the Clinton Baulch Cup for the second straight year after claiming last year’s event by 16 points.
