TA Field Estates believed to have purchased Aberfeldy at Holbrook for $24 million

TA Field Estates is believed to have purchased the 1771-hectare Aberfeldy property at Holbrook for $24 million.

EXCLUSIVE: ONE of Australia’s biggest wool growers is believed to have paid $24 million for a renowned grazing property in southern NSW.

The Weekly Times understands that TA Field Estates has purchased the 1771ha Aberfeldy property at Holbrook, adding to its portfolio of five properties covering about 71,000ha across NSW.

The fourth-generation family-owned business is run by Michael Field, who declined to comment when contacted by The Weekly Times today. It is believed a statement confirming the sale is imminent.

According to its website, TA Field produces more than 2200 bales of wool, runs 2000 mixed-aged breeding cows and grows more than 10,000 tonnes of grain.

Its holdings include 3000ha Benangaroo Station at Jugiong, 10,000ha Congi Station at Walcha, and Wyvern Station at Carrathool, which spans 50,000ha.

It is just the second time Aberfeldy has been offered for sale since it was settled by the Ross family in 1867. The sale would mark TA Field’s first land purchase since 2015 when it paid $10.3 million for the 1350ha adjoining Doughboy Mountain and Mirrugalee properties in the NSW New England. In 2014, it purchased the 6100-hectare Mobinbry and Wilby properties at North Star in northern NSW for $25 million.

Aberfeldy was previously owned by First Australian Farm Ltd and had been used to run a flock of about 10,000 composite ewes, and had also run cattle and grown crops.

Expressions of interest for the sale closed in early last month and had price expectations of $10,332/ha, or more than $18 million.
