Two standout Victorian farms could fetch more than $8 million combined in the latest rural property offerings this spring.
Lyonbank at Glenlyon has been listed for sale with an asking price of $4.8 million to $5.2 million.
The 31ha lifestyle property, near Daylesford, has been owned by Alan and Linda Hamilton for the past 30 years.
Ms Hamilton said the home on Lyonbank is 22 years old and was built primarily for the view, facing the Wombat Forest and Great Dividing Range.
“Work on the five-acre gardens also began then, but back around 1880 the first homestead built by white settlers stood here and much of the original plantings still survive,” Ms Hamilton said.
“We have the old hawthorn hedges, English oaks, walnuts, conifers, mulberries and a historic palm tree, plus the original hand-pumped well”.
The property will be sold via expressions of interest, closing November 30.
It comes as viticulture and lifestyle property Moorabool Ridge, at Lethbridge, has hit the market with a price tag of more than $3.5 million.
The 26ha property, near Geelong, has been owned by Tim Harrop since 1989.
Moorabool Ridge features 6ha of wine grapes in six varieties, as well as 800 mature olive trees, while a further 17ha is used for grazing 20-25 Limousin and Angus-cross breeders.
“I always intended to set up a vineyard, but started with cattle to generate the income needed and planted 14 acres of vines over the following 10 years before establishing our own label in 2005,” Mr Harrop said.
The property will be sold via expressions of interest closing December 7.
Meanwhile, a Queensland cattle farm has sold for a reported $11 million under the hammer.
The 2480ha property North Combarngo, near Warkon, was sold by Canberra Airport owner and rich lister Terry Snow as part of his Naturi Aggregation.
It was snapped up by Mick Johnston, a cattleman and trucking business owner from Wallumbilla.
