QLD, NSW stations sell for more than $100 million combined
Four stations have sold in separate deals between a mix of domestic investors and Queensland farming families. See the details.
Two Queensland cattle stations have changed hands in deals worth more than $90 million, while two further NSW livestock properties have also been sold in separate deals.
The Cox family have reportedly sold their 31,474ha Gattonvale Holding, located 32km from Collinsville in the state’s Whitsunday Region, ending 62 years of ownership.
Details of the transaction remain confidential, however, it is understood an undisclosed Queensland-based family has purchased the property, walk-in walk-out, paying more than $70 million.
Listed for sale in June, the Gattonvale Holding attracted significant early interest from prospective buyers. The property is rated to conservatively carry 7500SCU (standard cattle unit).
The sale also included 4900 Santa Gertrudis cattle, including 1900 breeders and followers.
Shepherdson and Boyd agent Mike Barry handled the sale of the Gattonvale Holding.
About 700km inland of Collinsville, the Kemp family from Richmond, Qld, have reportedly paid more than $20 million to purchase the 19,248ha backgrounding, breeding and finishing property, Marathon.
Offered for sale by Levers family after a tenure of more than 50 years, Marathon comprises Flinders River grazing capable of running 3900 adult equivalents.
It is understood Marathon will be used as a backgrounding block by the Kemp family, in alignment with their Lotus Park feedlot near Nebo, where they finish Wagyu cattle. Stockplace Marketing agent Luke Westaway handled the sale.
South of the QLD border, a Sydney businessman has sold what is regarded as one of the largest cattle stations in the NSW Upper Hunter region.
Ian Plunkett’s Fostoria Fannon have offloaded the Balarang Station, a 5810ha holding about 50km north of Scone.
In an off-market deal, it is understood a Sydney-based buyer, with existing holdings in the Upper Hunter region, acquired the station in one of the district’s largest sales in the past two decades.
Due to confidentiality agreements, the identity of the buyer and the price of the transaction remains undisclosed.
The sale is Fostoria Fannon’s second in as many years after they offloaded the nearby 1976ha Crawney Station to a local producer with existing grazing interests for $10.4 million last May.
Finally, a private Queensland family has paid $14.5 million for the 2237ha Glanmire Station at Abington in the NSW New England region.
Owned by the Coventry family since 1986, Glanmire Station was listed for sale last year alongside the nearby 2573ha Laura Station.
Both stations failed to sell with the family subsequently deciding to retain Laura Station and sell Glanmire Station in a recently struck deal.
Ray White Rural agent Andrew Starr handled the sale of Glanmire Station.
