Australia’s east to experience summer-like conditions over the weekend

A family owned farm in eastern South Australia and another in western Victoria have been listed for sale where they are expected to fetch top-dollar offers.

Owned by the Price family for about 20 years, the 990ha Karatta Aggregation at Binnum, about 30km north of Naracoorte, has hit the market with a price tag of between $16 to $18 million.

Offered for sale as a whole or in three non-contingent lots, the aggregation includes the 349ha Karatta, 455ha Cadgee, and 186ha Karrallee parcels.

In recent seasons the Price family has carried about 280 head of cattle and 3195 ewes.

The aggregation can grow year-round crops and pastures due to 12 pivot sites, growing wheat, barley, canola, beans, lucerne hay and seed with the diversified option of other high value crops such as potatoes and onions.

The Price family is selling the Karatta Aggregation to concentrate on their existing Yorke Peninsula farming operations, which date back three generations to a property at Paskeville in 1936.

Nutrien Harcourts and PPHS Naracoorte are handling the sale.

Meanwhile east of the border, the Bagnall family is selling its 607ha grazing property, Nanowie, 15km north of Hamilton.

Tony and Jacqui Bagnall have owned the property for more than a decade, running a livestock farm alongside a modern three-bedroom homestead.

“It’s a beautiful place with fabulous views of the Grampians, lots of majestic red gums and it’s only 10 minutes to Hamilton, which is a great centre with lots of facilities,” Mrs Bagnall said.

The couple, who have three adult daughters living nearby, plan to semi-retire after devoting years of hard work to the property.

The property is set across 16 titles and is divided into 28 paddocks comprising rye, phalaris and sub clover pastures including a wide laneway system, with 60 per cent of the fencing recently installed.

Offers worth high $17,300 a hectare ($7000 an acre) are expected for the property via expressions of interest closing September 28 at 1pm.

Earlier this year the New Zealand-based Daniell family offloaded their 1156ha three-farm aggregation in southwest Victoria, known as Wairere, ending their Australian farming pursuits.

Hamilton district producers, the Crawford family, purchased the property for an undisclosed sum.
