North Billabong at Holbrook sells for $7.5 million
Historic Holbrook property North Billabong, which was home to one of Australia’s biggest Poll Dorset producers, has been sold to a local buyer.
AN HISTORIC southern NSW property, home to one of Australia’s biggest Poll Dorset producers, has sold.
North Billabong at Holbrook was owned for about 20 years by Rob and Jody Martin who brought their established Poll Dorset stud with them from South Australia. The couple put the 686ha grazing and cropping property on the market last year after deciding to return to South Australia. It sold last month for $7.5 million to a local producer, selling agent Shane McIntyre from CBRE said.
The historic property features a brick homestead built in 1856 by Thomas Lunt, which was used as a hotel and a changing station for the Cobb and Co Coaches. Improvements included a vehicle shed, machinery, hayshed, former blacksmith’s shop, a five-stand shearing shed, other shedding, two sets of steel sheep yards and 200 tonnes of grain storage in four silos. It also had an equestrian arena.
