Bennelong has been owned and developed since 2005 by members of the Hazeldene family who run a major integrated poultry business in central Victoria.

The irrigation set up includes 2140ML of general security water right pumped from the Murray via two fully equipped pump stations.

One has two high pressure electric pumps supplying 485ha of irrigation with five Reinke centre pivots and one lateral move irrigator.

The second pump station with two diesel-powered pumps services 130ha of flood irrigation bays that have been laser levelled.

The installed pump has a capacity of about 40ML a day.

Bennelong’s cropping program includes about 840ha of wheat, barley and faba beans. In addition, there is a cattle grazing operation comprising up to 200 head of breeding cattle run with Charolais bulls, together with a Dorper meat sheep unit of 1500 ewes and lambs.

Ruralco Property selling agent John Morris said Bennelong had always been regarded for its prime vealer and fat lamb production together with lucerne hay and broadacre cropping on the noted soils of light loams to rich sandy loams.

The family home of 325sq m has four bedrooms, a large open-plan kitchen with formal dining area, two bathrooms, an office and in-ground pool all set in a well-established garden.

There is a five-stand shearing shed with accommodation attached, four machinery and hay sheds around the property, an aircraft hangar and a grass airstrip. Plus, there is an all steel set of working cattleyards and grain storage of 2400 tonnes.

Vendor Peter Hazeldene said Bennelong was in prime condition after recent rains.

“Although we have conducted extensive development, there is plenty of scope for more,” Peter said.

“Additional centre pivot or flood irrigation capacity could be considered to fully use the available river water and the pumping capacity installed would complement this option.”
