A South Australian farming family has listed a southeast South Australian sheep and cattle station for sale, ending its near 70-year tenure with the property.

The McBride family is selling the 3345ha Keilira Station, located 34km east of Kingston in South Australia’s South East.

The family have owned the property since 1954, transforming it from an unimproved block to a productive mixed livestock property.

Keilira Station is owned by relatives of the renowned McBride family, but is not part of the AJ & PA McBride Ltd pastoral company.

Colliers Agribusiness and Elders Real Estate are handling the sale with the Keilira Station on the market via walk-in walk-out terms.

“The McBride family has owned the property since 1954 and has undertaken a range of infrastructure developments and pasture renovations over the years to drive efficiencies and

increase production in their sheep and cattle enterprise,” Colliers national director Tim Altschwager said.

No price guide has been offered for the property.

Keilira Station has a 28,000 dry sheep equivalent carrying capacity.

The Keilira Station comprises more than 2000ha of heavy grazing flats, which could be converted to cropping and more than 1200ha of undulating hills grazing country.

The property has a carrying capacity of 28,000 dry sheep equivalent.

Elders Rural Real Estate Consultant Grant Schubert said the Keilira district is highly underrated from an agricultural production perspective.

“The district is extremely tightly held and the broader market rarely gets an opportunity to take a good look at this country, especially properties of this scale,” Mr Schubert said.

Existing infrastructure at the property includes three dwellings for owners and staff, a 12-person shearers’ quarters, six-stand shearing shed with yards, cattle yards, and extensive machinery and hay shedding.

The station is located between the Riddoch Highway and the Princes Highway in a district with a long-term average annual rainfall of around 540mm.

Elsewhere in South Australia, members of the Downer family dynasty listed their 1158ha grazing property, known as Mount Beevor, for sale where it was expected to field offers worth $25 to $30 million.
