LIFESTYLE properties are becoming even more fashionable in the COVID-19 pandemic with sellers hoping to reel in buyers embracing isolation.
Charles Stewart director Nick Adamson said interest in lifestyle properties was already strong prior to COVID-19 and it would only be extenuated by the fact people could now work remotely.
“Lifestyle properties are selling well and we had been seeing buyers come from near and far,” Mr Adamson said.
“An up-market lifestyle property I sold in Mortlake was purchased by a buyer from the Northern Territory earlier this year while another at Hawkesdale was bought by a Canberra buyer and a property at Terang was purchased by a local dairy farmers wanting to scale down and retire.
“I think we will see more even more demand for lifestyle properties due to isolation but we’ve also seen a trend of people getting tired of city traffic and congestion”.
Mr Adamson said low fuel costs and interest rates were also factors pushing people to lifestyle properties.
“If people want to work 50km from a regional centre these factors help,” he said.
One of the latest lifestyle properties to hit the market is a 64ha Gladysdale property (pictured) in the Yarra Ranges which has an asking price of $2.5 million.
Bell Real Estate’s Samantha Price said the list of horse facilities at the property was almost endless and the area had become popular for holiday destinations.
The 15ha Norton Park at Kyneton has also been listed for sale with an asking price of $1,275,000.
Owners Tracie and David Ellis told The Weekly Times they spent 18 months exploring the district in search of their retirement home before coming across the property in 2015.
The couple hope their extensive renovations will be appealing to buyers.
