Two historic rural Victorian pubs have hit the market where they are expected to receive multimillion dollar offers.

In the state’s Western District, the grand Leura Hotel in Camperdown, is back on the market after changing hands in recent years.

Formerly owned by demolition mogul and renowned Camperdown figure, Lawrie Voutier, the 30-bedroom hotel and watering hole was listed for sale in 2022 before subsequently selling.

A private vendor has listed the landmark hotel for sale, priced at $3.5 million, while the business has been priced at $350,000, via an online listing from First Choice Business Brokers.

A Western District landmark for more than 170 years, the Leura Hotel has changed hands several times during the last 20 years including when Mr Voutier purchased the property in 2017.

During his tenure the property was renovated, after being originally constructed in the 1850s and topped off with its imposing wedding cake design in 1902.

Located on Manifold St, the hotel offers a dining area, public bar, and outdoor beer garden with five separate bathrooms and a kitchenette servicing the extensive accommodation.

Meanwhile in the state’s Central Highlands region, offers worth more than $1.75 million are expected for one of Victoria’s oldest pubs, the Swiss Mountain Hotel in Blampied, north of Ballarat.

The 159-year-old Swiss Mountain Hotel has been listed by the estate of James (Jim) Frangos following his passing in July last year.

Regarded as an icon of the Ballarat hospitality industry, Mr Frangos bought the Blampied hotel in 2012, renovating it entirely while also building a dedicated function space.

The Frangos family arrived in Australia from Greece in the 1950s, before Jim and wife Dianne raised their family in nearby Daylesford, embarking on several hospitality ventures including The Belvedere and what would become Frangos and Frangos.

The Swiss Mountain Hotel, which also includes an alfresco dining space, three-bedroom residence and vineyard on the 5000 sqm site, is scheduled for auction on May 30 at noon, off-site, at the Castran Head Office in South Yarra.
