An established almond orchard in the Riverina has hit the market with price expectations of about $30 million.
The 584ha property, Greenview Farms at Tabbita near Griffith in NSW, is being sold by the Schembri family.
The property includes 430ha planted to several almond varieties including nonpareil, monterey, wood colony, planted in 2015, and nonpareil and shasta, planted in 2019.
CBRE agents Phil Schell and Angus Bills have been appointed to market the sale.
“The NSW Riverina region is one of the world’s fastest growing areas for almond producers,” Mr Schell said.
“The institutional scale and production potential of Greenview Farms is expected to drive interest from institutional investors and existing producers, seeking scaled expansion opportunities.”
Mr Schell said the Schembri family were expanding their neighbouring melon operations into the Northern Territory.
The property benefits from secure water sourced from the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Scheme, with 800 megalitres of on-farm”water storage in addition to a new irrigation system.
Expressions of interest will close on July 8.
Last year, the almond orchard Mooral at Hillston, also in the Riverina, was snapped up by American interests for a whopping $98 million.
The 3841 property was purchased by Hancock Agricultural Investment Group, which is based in Boston.
