THE fruits of one family’s hard work are now for sale with the offering of Riverina orchard Budwood.

When George and Maria Nardi set about developing an orchard in 1991, they did it all with careful planning and high levels of execution.

The result is 33ha of citrus including 29ha of oranges, valencia and navel, and 4.5ha of sumo mandarins.

But never ones to rest on their laurels, the Nardis are redeveloping their farm, with plans to plant 10,000 trees this spring.

The new plantings, covering almost 20ha, will see 13ha planted to easy-peel mandarins and another 6.5ha put into a new navel variety.

Selling agent Sally Douglas from Landmark Harcourts at Wagga Wagga said it was a top-shelf farm.

“Really, this place is as neat as a pin and everything has been done properly,” Sally said.

The orchard is watered by an irrigation system with all plantings drip irrigated.

Irrigation is supplied at 1.6 litres an hour, and drippers are spaced 55cm apart. There is plenty of water at Budwood, with a 150-megalitre groundwater licence and a high-security water allocation of 306 megalitres.

Mains water is supplied to the house and garden. Improvements are headed by a four-bedroom house that, despite being built about 20 years ago, is now being renovated.

It has four bedrooms and is surrounded by an established garden.

Plenty of room: The property has a large storage shed with cement flooring.

Farm improvements include a large steel machinery shed with cement flooring, as well as a pump house shed, a bounded lockable chemical storage shed and a bore shed.

Sally said the property had an enviable reputation in the heartland of citrus growing.

“The vendor has sale agreements in place for citrus locally and supplies a producer with established international citrus export markets including China.”

The plant and equipment is not included in the sale but the vendor is prepared to negotiate with successful buyers.
