Cheapest houses for sale in the Bass Coast revealed
Melburnians have been moving to regional Victoria in droves — here’s where you can get a bargain in the Bass Coast. See the list.
The Bass Coast has become one of the most sought after locations as Melburnians flee the city and relocate to regional Victoria in droves.
Ray White Phillip Island sales executive Bec Anderson said she was once again seeing high demand for properties in coastal and regional areas.
“Our office had a total of 17 properties go under offer, of which 13 properties went under offer sight unseen in the month of August,” she said.
“There is still a lack of properties available on the market, and with this strong demand, prices are continuing to rise.”
Ms Anderson said Melburnians were searching for either permanent residence or holiday homes.
“The permanent buyers are looking to relocate to secure a quieter coastal lifestyle, particularly if they have the ability to work remotely – and to escape the harder Melbourne lockdowns,” she said.
“Holiday home buyers are looking to secure holiday properties, so that they still have somewhere to retreat to, while interstate and international travel is still not an option.”
With restrictions easing in country Victoria on Friday, Ms Anderson believes the health of the property market will rely heavily on the pandemic.
“It is my expectation that the market will continue with its strength, and we may still see pricing increase, as it has steadily over recent months,” she said.
Ms Anderson said it was important for buyers to buy sooner rather than later.
“Pricing has increased considerably, and seems to be continuing in the upward trend,” she said.
“Be proactive in getting in touch with local agents, register their interest, so that they can be kept informed about new listings as soon as they arise.
“The market is competitive, so ensuring that they have their finance pre approved is vital.”
