A renowned southwest Victorian dairy family has further expanded its extensive enterprise after acquiring a 270ha property at Brucknell South, about 40km east of Warrnambool.

Jed (Jared) Boshier and wife Ella Credlin, via Boshier Farms, have purchased Brucknell Farm from the ASX-listed Australian Dairy Nutritionals Limited, paying $7.125 million.

Sold on a bare basis, the property fetched a figure worth more than $25,900 a hectare after it was listed for sale in October.

Settlement for the sale is expected to be completed in March.

Mr Boshier and Ms Credlin, a sibling of political commentator Peta, have established a formidable dairying operation in southwest Victoria, milking 1500 cows across four properties.

Mr Boshier relocated to Australia from New Zealand two decades ago, before the couple then spent two years in China working in AustAsia where they constructed three 10,000-cow dairy farms.

Elders Real Estate Camperdown selling agent Rob Rickard handled the sale and said there was significant local interest in the Camperdown-based milk company’s property.

The farm, which features a 50-unit rotary dairy and 32,000-litre vat, was used by Australian Dairy Nutritionals Limited to produce organic A2 milk.

The Camperdown-based milk company said in October it wanted to offload the Brucknell South property because the milk produced by the farm was surplus to its needs at its Depot Road infant formula manufacturing facility

The company also said the sale of the property would not impact production of Ocean Road Dairies’ organic A2 infant formula range.

“The group’s remaining farm, Yaringa, produces sufficient organic A2 protein milk for the Depot Road facility at full capacity,” the company said in a statement.

When confirming the sale of the Brucknell South property, Australian Dairy Nutritionals Limited said the transaction would fund “investigating industry consolidation opportunities”, increased manufacturing at the Depot Road facility and growing sales of the Ocean Road Dairies range domestically and internationally.

Australian Dairy Nutritionals Limited permanently ceased production of fresh milk at its Camperdown facility and ended fresh milk processing at Manifold in August 2022, opting to focus on higher-margin products such as infant formula and nutritional supplements.
