$75-$85m offers tipped for Americans’ SA vineyards
American investors behind one of the nation’s largest table grape enterprises are looking to offload their flagship South Australian asset.
American investors behind one of the nation’s largest table grape enterprises are looking to offload their flagship South Australian asset, which could be worth huge offers.
US-based Renewable Resources Group Capital Management, a global alternative asset manager focused on sustainable food, agriculture, water, and energy- is selling Talia Farms, located at Lyrup in the South Australian Riverland region.
Acquired and developed by RRG during their tenure, Talia Farms offers 230ha of vineyards, growing 14 proprietary grape varieties, plus a state-of-the-art packing facility.
The California-based fund manager also owns a number of key horticultural assets in the western United States, Mexico and South America, plus Koompartu almonds at Monash, SA and Nambucca Farms in NSW, where they produce macadamias.
Colliers Agribusiness is handling the transaction of the vertically integrated Talia Farms enterprise, which is expected to attract global interest of investors and fresh produce operators.
“Based on other transactions in the horticulture sector and given Talia Farms’ production and income growth trajectory, an earnings multiplier in line with current market rates could see Talia Farms achieving a price in the vicinity of $75m to $85m,” Colliers national director Jesse Manuel said.
“Talia Farms is a turnkey horticultural operation newly developed to an exceptionally high standard. Featuring advanced technology, premium table grape varieties, and a robust business model, the enterprise is primed for long-term success.
“Talia Farms is positioned for strong financial performance, with income on a growth trajectory.”
Neighbouring Talia Farms is an expansive greenfield site, owned by RRG, covering 594ha with approvals for horticultural development and soils suitable for almonds, citrus or table grapes.
Across its established 230ha Talia Farms grows a mix of grape varieties tailored for export to Asia-Pacific markets during premium windows, designed for competitive advantages in variety diversification and harvest timing.
The packing facility uses automated systems for same-day pick, pack, and dispatch, targeting longer shelf life through pre-cooling technology that lowers fruit temperature from 34.0°C to 0.5°C in an hour.
Talia Farms and its neighbouring property are for sale via international expressions of interest campaign.
