Sean Combs trial: Diddy’s lawyer’s shock act in court
Lawyers for Sean “Diddy” Combs tried to bring his trial to a halt as a former staffer said he saw a “lot of blood” after an alleged beating of Cassie Ventura.
Lawyers for Sean “Diddy” Combs sensationally sought to get the music mogul’s trial brought to a screeching halt on Wednesday, US time, and thrown out in a move that would have allowed the music mogul to walk free.
That shock mistrial manoeuvre came on the same day as a celebrity stylist told the court that Combs “panicked” when he saw just how much blood was spewing from girlfriend Cassie Ventura’s head after an alleged beating.
Combs is claimed to have then said “look what y’all made me do,” as Ms Ventura’s friends rushed around to find towels to mop up the blood.

But the jury might not have this evidence at all after lawyers made a shock statement that the trial should be thrown out completely.
It would have meant the trial beginning again from the get go.
They argued that Government prosecution lawyers had improperly suggested to an investigator, who had been brought into to discuss a fire on Kid Cudi’s car, that the star may have destroyed evidence.
But Judge Arun Subramanian denied the request.
“There was absolutely no testimony from the witness that was prejudicial in any way shape or form.” he said, reported Reuters.
Combs is on trial in New York on federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. Combs has denied all the charges.
‘Designer handkerchief used in Kid Cudi arson attack
The testimony from the fire inspector was that a blaze that wrote off the Porsche of rapper Kid Cudi – while he was in a relationship with Combs’ girlfriend – was likely a “targeted” arson attack.
Images have been shown in court of a hole in the convertible roof of the car of Scott Mescudi – better known as Kid Cudi – and scorching in the car’s seats and doors.
Los Angles fire inspector Lance Jimenez said investigations found a one litre Olde English 800 malt liquor bottle was used to make a molotov cocktail. It was stuffed with a designer handkerchief of a “silky material”. But that silk like material was actually less flammable that might have been desired.
“The fire smouldered out … and didn’t cause the damage that it was intended for,” Mr Jimenez said
“In my opinion, this was targeted,” he added.
‘Lots of blood’: Cassie beating
Also on Wednesday, celebrity stylist Deonte Nash – who styled and was a close friend of Ms Ventura – detailed shocking claims of the violence she suffered.
On one occasion, he said Combs burst into Ms Ventura’s apartment while she was napping.
“Bitch, didn’t I tell you to answer the phone?” Mr Nash claimed Combs said.
The stylist said Combs grabbed Ms Ventura’s hair and hit her.
“He was in a rage,” said Mr Nash.
Ms Ventura, Mr Nash and another staff member of Combs known only as “Mia” ran into a bedroom to shelter but Combs managed to get into the room, he said.
“He continued to attack Cassie with fists and kicking”.
Mr Nash said both he and Mia jumped on Combs’ back to protect Ms Ventura but he wrestled them off. Ms Ventura’s head then hit the bed frame, said Mr Nash.
“When Puff saw blood he panicked,” he said.
“There was a lot of blood from Cassie’s head”.
‘Look what y’all made me do’
Yet, he claimed Combs continued to beat Ms Ventura even after the blood was noticeable “for a few more seconds”.
Mr Nash and Mia scrambled to get towels to soak up the blood and look after Ms Ventura when, the stylist claimed, Combs said “look what y’all made me do”.
Ms Ventura was then bustled off to a plastic surgeon, Mr Nash said.
The friend of Ms Ventura also alleged they were both chased in their car by Combs. When he caught up with them it was claimed Combs said he would put out a sex tape of Ms Ventura.
“Girl, if he wants to release the sex tapes let him because he is on them too,” Mr Nash said he told Ms Ventura.
“She said it wasn’t him on the video, it was her having sex with other guys”.
It was then that Mr Nash learned about the “freak off” sex parties where it is alleged Combs watched Ms Venture have sex with other men.
“She said she didn't want to have sex with other guys (but) Puff wanted her too”.

Cassie: ‘I’m going over the balcony’
On another occasion, said Mr Nash, he had unsuccessfully hidden Ms Ventura in a hotel after one of Combs’ rages.
But after he told Ms Ventura that Combs was in reception demanding she come down, he claimed Ms Ventura said she was “going to go over the balcony”.
At that point, he said, Combs’ own staff helped Ms Ventura leave the hotel down a stairwell avoiding Combs.
