Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie visit Aussie charity in rare new photos
Beloved Australian charity Our Big Kitchen welcomed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to their Los Angeles outpost ahead of the royals’ planned trip down under.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have visited the Los Angeles branch of Sydney charity Our Big Kitchen ahead of their anticipated trip to Australia.
Our Big Kitchen was founded by Bondi’s Rabbi Dovid Slavin and his wife Laya in 2005 who then shared the concept with their American friends to open an Los Angeles outpost during the pandemic in 2020.
“OBK Bondi celebrates and supports the inspiring volunteer work of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children at OBK Los Angeles!” the Sydney charity wrote in celebration of the visit on social media.
Much like their counterpart in LA, the Sydney site is patronised by well known guests.
Prime Ministers John Howard, Kevin Rudd and Malcolm Turnbull have all taken a turn to don an apron and one of Australia’s richest people, Meriton Managing Director Harry Triguboff, has also supported the charity’s work.
While the charity is a project of the Sydney Jewish community, most of the 250,000 meals they provide annually to those in need go to non Jewish organisations.
The visit to the Australian charity comes a few weeks after Queensland celebrity astrologer Angela Pearl appears to have inadvertently told the world Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be paying her a visit.
The beloved Gold Coast based mystic posted to Instagram a copy of a letter sent to her by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex which hints at the trip
“We hope your family in Ukraine remain safe and we look forward to staying in touch especially as we look to visit Australia again,” the letter to the renowned horoscope reader of Ukrainian descent reads.
After the visit to Our Big Kitchen in LA Meghan has shared a rare glimpse of her daughter Princess Lilibet as the four-year-old made her charity debut alongside brother Prince Archie.
The Sussexes volunteered at Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles, helping to “prepare and package meals for community members experiencing food insecurity.”
Meghan and Prince Harry shared images of the event on the Archewell website, which included a picture of Lilibet watching as a volunteer rolled out cookie dough.
In typical Sussex fashion, the little girl’s face was not visible in the image, which showed her with her back to the camera.
Lilibet wore a plaid red dress and a black baseball cap with her red hair in a plait.
Standing opposite his sister, Archie, whose face obscured by a black cap, was shown getting stuck in to the food prep by mixing a bowl of cookie dough.
He was also photographed rolling dough in cinnamon sugar in an image shared to Meghan’s Instagram Stories.
In another image, Meghan, holding hands with Lilibet, beamed up at Prince Harry as he dished up food into individual containers.
“Show up, do good,” Meghan captioned her social media upload.
Meghan has previously spoken about her mission to ensure Archie and Lilibet remain down-to-earth, telling the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast that it’s “really important” that the “privileged” siblings “understand the value of things.”
“We grow a lot of veggies, and part of what I want them to learn is that gardening is really so great for children, ‘cause it teaches them patience, teaches them to value and appreciate their food,” she said.
“So you start from seed, and you watch it grow, and they wait. But with that, it’s like, now do you want to sell your harvest? And do you want to share it with our community?” she continued.
“I think that’s key for children to understand that, especially children who are very lucky to have a home that has privilege. You need to know that, just like manners, and taking care of the things around you, there is a value on things.”
The former actress has been sharing more about Archie and Lilibet — in interviews and on social media — since launching her As Ever brand and debuting her Netflix series With Love, Meghan earlier this year.
